Editorial Policy

How we source, label and correct what we publish.

Minnesota Vikings IO is an independent fan site run by Vikings supporters. We are not affiliated with the Minnesota Vikings or the NFL, and our coverage is not reviewed or approved by either.

Independence

Nobody pays for coverage here. We take no money from the club, the league, agents, retailers, betting operators or anyone connected to the people we write about, and we do not publish sponsored posts or sell links. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed at the top of the page in question.

We are fans, and we do not hide that. Being a supporter does not change how we report facts: a loss is reported as a loss.

Who is responsible

Articles carry the byline Minnesota Vikings IO Staff, which means they were written and edited by the team that runs the site, and the site takes responsibility for them. Pieces from outside contributors are credited to that person by name, with their consent, and are edited to the same standards. See About Us and Write for Us.

Sourcing and attribution

  • Written articles link to their sources inline, so readers can check where a fact, quote or figure came from.
  • We prefer primary sources: official team and league releases, official injury reports and transaction wires, box scores and on-the-record quotes.
  • Scores, statistics and schedule details are checked against official or established statistical sources. Where a number is disputed or provisional, we say so next to it.
  • Reports from other outlets are credited to the outlet that reported them, with a link. Rumors are labeled as rumors and are not presented as confirmed.
  • We do not copy other outlets’ articles, and we do not publish anonymous claims of our own.

Automated game pages

Some game previews, recaps and score pages in our schedule and news sections are generated automatically from ESPN game data and the site’s own schedule feed. These pages update as the underlying data changes, for example when a score goes final or a kickoff time moves.

Because they are produced automatically, an error in the source data can appear on the page until it is corrected at the source or by us. If you spot one, please report it.

Fact, analysis and opinion

  • News and results report what happened and cite sources.
  • Analysis explains why something happened or what it means, and is labeled as analysis.
  • Opinion pieces, such as columns and rankings, are clearly presented as the view of the writer.
  • Projections and predictions, such as draft capital, playoff scenarios or game picks, are labeled as projections and are never presented as settled fact.

Betting odds and predictions

Where we show odds or lines, we date them, because they move quickly. Odds and predictions are provided for information only and are not betting advice. We are not paid by betting operators and do not promote gambling. Our disclaimer has more detail.

Images and trademarks

Club marks and logos are the property of their respective owners and are used here to identify teams in schedules, standings and box scores. Photography and illustrations are used for illustration and do not imply endorsement. If you own an image on the site and believe it is being used incorrectly, contact us and we will review it promptly.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it on the page rather than quietly deleting it.

  1. Report the error through the contact form, choosing “Report a correction”, or email hello@minnesotavikings.io. Include the page address, what the page says, and what it should say, ideally with a source.
  2. We check the claim against the original source. Corrections take priority over everything else in the inbox.
  3. If we were wrong, we fix the page. Substantive corrections carry a short note explaining what changed and when. Typos and small wording fixes are corrected without a note.

Updates and dates

When we make a meaningful update, such as new information, a changed schedule or a correction, we update the page’s modified date. We do not change dates just to make old content look new.
