1961
The Minnesota Vikings join the NFL as an expansion franchise. The team has no mascot yet.

1970
Hub Meeds becomes the team's first costumed Viking mascot after he and his brother, dressed in costume, were mistaken for the team's official mascots at Super Bowl IV and waved onto the field. He continues in the role into the early 1990s.

1994
Ragnar, an adult costumed “superfan” Viking played by Joseph Juranitch, debuts as the team's sideline personality, known for motorcycle entrances and rooftop stunts at the Metrodome.

2007
Viktor the Viking is introduced as the team's official mascot. His name was chosen by a fan vote, and his backstory ties him to Minnesota's Scandinavian heritage.

2015
The Vikings and Ragnar part ways after a contract dispute over his pay, ending his run on the sideline after more than 20 seasons.

Viktor the Viking remains the Vikings' official mascot, appearing at home games and at community and school events across Minnesota.
