The register, in induction order

Twenty-eight record cards, oldest first. The numeral on each card is the year of the induction ceremony; the card number is that person's place in the order of induction. Six people went up in 1998, the year the Ring was created.

Announced, not yet inducted

One name has been announced but has not yet gone up. It is kept separate from the register above so the count of 28 stays accurate.

Scheduled · 29th member

Adrian Peterson

Running Back · 2007–2016

The Vikings announced on 28 July 2026 that Peterson will enter the Ring of Honor as its 29th member during Minnesota's Monday Night Football game against the Buffalo Bills on 9 November 2026. As of the date this page was published, the ceremony has not taken place.

The Ring of Honor is not the Hall of Fame

These are two separate honours and it is easy to run them together. The Ring of Honor is the Vikings' own award, decided by the club, and it recognises service to this franchise. The Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton is a league-wide institution with its own selection committee, and a place there is not in the Vikings' gift.

The two overlap, but not neatly. Fourteen of the twenty-eight Ring of Honor members are also enshrined in Canton, and those cards carry a gold Hall of Fame marker above. The other fourteen are not, which is the point of the Ring: it exists to honour people whose contribution to Minnesota football does not depend on a national vote.

It runs the other way too. Several people in the Pro Football Hall of Fame played for the Vikings at some stage of their careers without being inducted into the Ring of Honor, because the Ring is about a career made here.

A note on what this page does not say

This page lists each member's role, their years with the Vikings and the date of their induction ceremony. It deliberately does not carry biographical detail we have not checked person by person. Where a member has a profile on this site, their name links to it.

Sources and how this list was checked

This register shows the entries we could verify as of 12 September 2026. The membership list was taken from the Vikings' own Ring of Honor page and cross-checked against a second, dated list; every induction year agreed across both. The ordering was then checked a third way, against the club's own statements that Steve Jordan was the 25th member, Jared Allen the 27th and Bobby Bryant the 28th — each of which matches the position that name holds in the chronological order above.

Hall of Fame markers were checked individually against the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Minnesota Vikings page rather than assumed from the Ring of Honor list.
