Minnesota hired Adofo-Mensah on January 26, 2022 and announced that he had been relieved of his duties on January 30, 2026. He is a former Vikings general manager.

The route to Minnesota

Economics and finance

He earned economics degrees at Princeton and Stanford. Before football, he worked at Taylor Woods Capital and traded commodities at Credit Suisse.

San Francisco and Cleveland

He joined the 49ers’ research department in 2013, becoming its manager in 2017 and director in 2018. He then spent two seasons as Cleveland’s vice president of football operations.

Minnesota named Kevin O’Connell head coach in February 2022. His current team biography gives February 16; the original announcement has a February 15 dateline but a February 16 publication date.

Moving from 12 to 32

Minnesota sent picks 12 and 46 to Detroit for 32, 34 and 66. Detroit selected Jameson Williams at 12; the Vikings selected Lewis Cine at 32. Trade announcement.

T.J. Hockenson

Minnesota acquired Hockenson, a 2023 fourth-rounder and a conditional 2024 fourth-rounder from Detroit for a 2023 second-rounder and 2024 third-rounder. Club report.

Two first-round moves

For pick 10 and pick 203, Minnesota sent the Jets picks 11, 129 and 157, then selected J.J. McCarthy. For pick 17, used on Dallas Turner, the Vikings sent Jacksonville picks 23 and 167 plus third- and fourth-round choices in 2025. 2024 draft tracker.

2022–2025

Veteran additions and retention

The Vikings agreed to terms with Za’Darius Smith on March 22, 2022. Sam Darnold’s agreement was announced March 13, 2024, after Kirk Cousins departed for Atlanta.
