Series overview
A series that crosses conferences every few years
The Minnesota Vikings and New York Jets play in different conferences, so their schedules only intersect when the NFC North and AFC East are paired for interconference games, plus the occasional NFL International Series assignment. That has kept the series to 13 regular-season meetings since it began in 1970, with no playoff games between the two franchises and no meeting in any Super Bowl.
New York holds the historical edge, 8-5, built mostly on games from 1970 through 2010. Minnesota has turned the series around recently, however, winning the last four meetings in a row: 2014, 2018, 2022 and the 2024 game played at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. The two teams are scheduled to meet again in Week 17 of the 2026 season, at MetLife Stadium.

13 games, Jets lead 8-5
Minnesota is 3-3 in games hosted at its own stadium (Metropolitan Stadium, the Metrodome, TCF Bank Stadium and U.S. Bank Stadium across the series) and 1-5 on the road at the Jets' stadiums (Shea Stadium and MetLife Stadium). The 2024 meeting was a neutral-site game in London where the Vikings were the designated home team. The Vikings have won the last four meetings in a row, after New York won seven of eight from 1979 through 2010.
