Carson Wentz Overview
Carson Wentz is a veteran quarterback in his 11th NFL season, currently listed as Minnesota’s backup quarterback behind starter Kyler Murray and ahead of J.J. McCarthy on the Vikings’ 2026 depth chart. The Philadelphia Eagles selected Wentz with the second overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft out of North Dakota State, where he won back-to-back FCS national championships. He earned a Pro Bowl selection and set a single-season franchise record with 33 touchdown passes during a near-MVP 2017 campaign before a torn ACL ended that season in Week 14; the Eagles went on to win Super Bowl LII with Nick Foles at quarterback while Wentz recovered from surgery.
Wentz has since played for the Indianapolis Colts, Washington Commanders, Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs.
