Biography
Max Brosmer is a quarterback who reached the Minnesota Vikings the long way: five seasons as a starter at the University of New Hampshire, a graduate-transfer season at the University of Minnesota, an undrafted trip through the 2025 NFL Draft, and a roster fight he won as a rookie.
Born in Davenport, Iowa, and raised in Toronto before his family settled in Roswell, Georgia, Brosmer started at New Hampshire from 2019 through 2023. As a senior he led all of NCAA Division I FCS in passing yards, throwing for 3,464 yards with 29 touchdowns against just 5 interceptions, and earned First-team FCS All-American and First-team All-CAA honours. He then used a final season of college eligibility to join Minnesota's Golden Gophers in 2024, passing for 2,617 yards and 17 touchdowns in purple and gold before the Vikings ever entered the picture.
Brosmer went unselected in the 2025 NFL Draft, then signed with the Vikings as a priority undrafted free agent on April 26, 2025. A strong preseason earned him a spot on Minnesota's initial 53-man roster that August, one of seven undrafted rookies to make the team. He appeared in Vikings games and made two starts as a rookie, filling in when the offence needed a fourth option at quarterback, and finished the season with the passing line shown below.
He entered 2026 fighting for a roster spot again, was released from the 53-man roster on August 31, 2026, and was re-signed to Minnesota's practice squad on September 2, 2026 after clearing waivers, continuing his development behind the Vikings' veteran quarterbacks.

Development Analysis
Brosmer's college tape shows a quarterback who can move an offence efficiently: he completed better than 60 percent of his throws in each of his final three college seasons and posted strong touchdown-to-interception ratios at both New Hampshire and Minnesota.
His rookie NFL sample is small and rougher. Zero touchdowns against four interceptions on 71 attempts, along with 14 sacks taken, points to the usual first-year adjustments: NFL pass rushes close faster than FCS or Big Ten fronts, and the margin for a late read or a hesitant throw is thinner. Continued development in pocket management, ball security and processing speed will decide how much of his college accuracy carries over.
For now, that development is happening on the practice squad rather than the active roster, a step back from 2025 but also a chance to keep working behind Minnesota's veteran quarterbacks without game pressure.
