Minnesota has controlled the regular-season series, leading 21-12 across 33 games. The two playoff meetings split evenly: the Vikings won the first, in January 1983, and the Falcons won the second, the unforgettable 1998 NFC Championship Game, sixteen years later.

The most famous game in the series. Morten Andersen won it for the Falcons with a field goal, sending Atlanta to its first Super Bowl.
